Craft workshops take center stage in the latest edition of the Summer Ecological and Artisan Market in Las Meanas
July 16, 2025
On July 19 and 20, 12 artisans and 15 small producers will sell quality products made in a traditional and sustainable way.
The Artisan and Ecological Market returns to Las Meanas Park this Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20, for its fourth and final summer edition. A special event that will focus on artisan workshops for all audiences, with proposals such as textile upcycling or stamp carving, taught by expert hands. An opportunity to learn, create, and enjoy the art of craftsmanship, from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 21:00, while exploring the flavors of the Natural Paradise.
The artisan workshops will offer an opportunity to learn and experiment in a practical way, allowing participants to unleash their creativity. Guided by expert artisans, attendees can work with simple materials and transform them into unique objects, all in a sustainable and welcoming environment. A space for everyone, regardless of age, to enjoy learning while taking home a handmade souvenir.
Creativity and sustainability in every stitch
The workshop ‘Coin Purse Keychain with Textile Upcycling’, led by Sandra Bermúdez, will take place on Saturday, July 19. It is aimed at adults and children from 7 years old, always accompanied by a responsible adult. Each session, lasting 50 minutes, will be conducted in small groups of six people to ensure personalized attention.
In this workshop, participants will learn to transform fabric scraps from jeans into coin purse keychains using the technique of upcycling. In addition to reducing waste and promoting more responsible consumption, attendees will learn to sew by hand, attach a button, and discover how with a little creativity, any piece of fabric can become a useful object. There will be 6 available slots throughout the day: 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.
Stamp carving: a creative adventure to personalize and decorate
On Sunday, July 20, participants will have the opportunity to create their own personalized stamp in the Stamp Carving workshop, led by Cristina Soberado. During an hour and 15 minutes, they will learn the carving technique, combining drawing and patience to design a unique stamp to take home. Aimed at adults and young people from 12 years old, always accompanied by a responsible adult, the workshop is designed for groups of 6 people, with four slots available, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. No previous experience is required, only creativity and a desire to enjoy a different experience while honing new skills.
Discover, explore, and learn
Visitors to the market this weekend will discover that it is much more than just a shopping space. It is an open window to the flavors, landscapes, and hands that make Asturias a unique territory. Among cheeses, sausages, wines, preserves, and much more, the public can purchase products directly from small Asturian producers and get to know the artisans who, with patience and dedication, transform materials like wood, leather, or textiles into unique pieces, made one by one.
The market also invites exploration, learning while enjoying. Beyond the stalls, visitors can immerse themselves in the universe of the foods of the Natural Paradise through playful and informative proposals. An interactive game with QR codes will reveal interesting facts about the most representative products of Asturias; while an exhibition will showcase the diversity of quality brands in the region. At the information point, visitors can get answers to their questions, participate in the game, and collect prizes with a local flavor.
