The ciderhouse restaurant Casa Marisa hosted this morning the presentation by Hostelry Comarca Avilés-UCAYC of the 37th edition of the Gastronomic Days of the Antroxu Menus, in an event attended by the Councilor for Commerce and Tourism, and president of the Comarca Avilés Consortium, Raquel Ruiz, along with representatives from the 15 participating establishments in the city.
The presentation was attended by, in addition to the participating restaurants, authorities from the region, gastronomic critics, suppliers, etc.
The Antroxu Menus of Avilés have become one of the most traditional and popular gastronomic events in the Asturian calendar. They have a 37-year history. They will be offered in lunch and dinner menus on March 3 and 4.
Similarly, to reinforce Avilés as the Asturian capital of tapas and also reach new target audiences, the Antroxu Tapas will be offered, which can be enjoyed in various establishments throughout the Avilés carnival.
Fifteen restaurants and cider houses in the city will offer the traditional and hearty Antroxu menus next Monday 3 and Tuesday 4, both for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu on both days will consist of a «gochu» tapa, carnival stew with a selection of meats, and for dessert, «frixuelos,» «bollines,» or «teresicas.»
The Monday dinner will include stuffed peppers and pork tenderloins, while the Tuesday dinner will be based on stuffed potatoes and tripe. The desserts for dinner will be the same as those for lunch. The menus will be accompanied by Rioja DO wine, also including coffee and Panizo liqueurs.
The Antroxu Menus are a gastronomic initiative promoted by UCAYC, which joins the
range of gastronomic events held in the city, such as the Tapas from the
Brotherhoods, Sea Bites, Flavors from Square to Square, Tapas Week, Autumn
Wines and Tapas, etc. They always have the support and collaboration of the Avilés City Council, all framed in the city promotion that is the objective of the Avilés Commerce Pact that UCAYC and the City Council have been signing since 2005, benefiting every year around a thousand commerce, hospitality, and service companies.
The Antroxu of Avilés, a festival declared of Regional Tourist Interest, is a festival characterized by massive citizen participation, and its success is contributed to by the commitment of local hospitality both with the Antroxu Menus and with the organization of the Contest of «Chigres Antroxaos,» which this year reaches its 34th edition, consisting of disguising, interior and exterior, the different hospitality venues.
