A resident of Oviedo recognized this Wednesday, as the Prosecutor’s Office of the Principality of Asturias claimed, that he repeatedly punched a stranger in the face with brass knuckles while the victim was walking his dog in a street in the capital. He accepted a sentence of two and a half years in prison.
The speedy trial took place at the Court of Penal nº 1 of Oviedo. According to the prosecutor, around 7:00 p.m. on January 15th, the accused was on Iluminada Street in Oviedo when he saw another man walking with his dog.
The accused approached him and said, «What are you doing here? You can’t walk around here.» The victim replied that he was walking his dog, to which the accused responded by pulling out an object resembling brass knuckles and repeatedly hitting him in the face, causing numerous injuries that required hospital treatment. He received a total of 30 stitches.
The events were deemed to constitute a crime of assault, with the aggravating factor of recidivism. After admitting to the facts, the accused accepted a sentence of 2 years and 6 months in prison, with a special disqualification from exercising the right to vote.
