The Councilor for Sports, Concepción Méndez Suárez, presented this morning, in a press conference, three days of face-to-face training that will take place on May 5, 6, and 7 at the Palacio de Congresos, organized by the National Center for Education in Sports (CNED), an initiative created by the Oviedo City Council in November 2024 with the aim of coordinating all municipal actions in the field of educational sports and child and adolescent protection.
«As you know, although its origin is local, the CNED has a national projection, positioning Oviedo as a reference in the creation of innovative educational initiatives with an impact on the sports field. Over these months, we have worked to meet the objectives by structuring our intervention through the CNED around four fundamental axes: Safeguarding and protecting minors. Implementing measures to ensure safe sports environments in line with Organic Law 8/2021 (LOPIVI); We continue to work on equal opportunities: Promoting gender equality and equitable access to sports practice for all children, without discrimination, and we have developed educational competencies for trainers, offering online and face-to-face training for coaches and sports managers, focused on educational methodologies based on good treatment and respect for children. Today we can say that both the City Council and the clubs that carry out their activities within the municipality have a protection delegate who has received training through the CNED,» said the Sports Councilor, while recalling that «like the delegates and families received specific training to encourage healthy habits for children, considering sports as a key agent, today we are launching three new training workshops that will focus on: Good practices in sports; Child protection framework in sports and the training of Protection Delegates to reinforce the application of the protocol in sports and educational entities, which «are included in the training program that will be developed within the framework of the Comprehensive Protection Protocol for Prevention and Action Against Violence in Child Sports. The training program promotes well-being, inclusion, and excellence in the training of children and young people through sports and education and aims to promote training and sports development programs with a focus on good treatment and child well-being; Reinforce inclusion and equity in access to education and sports and create spaces for collaboration between educational institutions, sports clubs, and public administrations for social development through sports.»
