Racing de Santander, Huesca, Mirandés, Levante, Elche y Oviedo luchan por liderato con solo dos puntos de diferencia

Racing de Santander, SD Huesca, CD Mirandés, Levante UD, Elche CF y Real Oviedo are set to play the 30th round of LaLiga Hypermotion this weekend, with all of them having the chance to become leaders at the end of this round, as they are separated by just two points in the standings.

The Santander team, leading this Segunda División, will seek to maintain their top spot this Saturday (18:30) against Real Sporting at El Molinón, a highly anticipated match for both teams where the visitors have not been defeated since 2020. Since their return to the second tier of Spanish football in 2019, Racing has remained undefeated in Gijón, with two wins and a draw.

The Santander team, the best away team in the competition, aims to chain together two consecutive victories to solidify their position at the top of the standings, something they haven’t achieved in five rounds. Additionally, their performance away from El Sardinero has been diminished, with only one win in their last seven away matches. They will face a Sporting team that has drifted away from the playoff spots with four consecutive draws, although they have only lost one of their last eight matches.

On the other hand, Mirandés and Real Oviedo will clash at Anduva on Saturday afternoon (16:15) in the only match of the weekend between top 6 teams. The Burgos team is third in the standings after the victory against Tenerife, just one point behind the top spot, so a win would temporarily place them in the lead, while Tenerife, in sixth place, would also move to the top of the table if they win.

A match where Mirandés aims for their fifth consecutive home victory, having not lost since October 5 — eight wins and two draws — against a rival they haven’t lost to at home since 2017. However, they will face an Oviedo side that is in great form away from home, having earned 13 out of the last 15 points as visitors. Additionally, in the first leg, they showed they know how to beat Mirandés, with a resounding 4-1 victory.

At 18:30 on Saturday, Elche will host Castellón at Martínez Valero in a match where the home team aims to bounce back from their recent defeat at El Sardinero. They will have to overcome a Castellón side that comes to Elche in good form, with four consecutive matches without a loss, winning three of them.

Eder Sarabia’s team, leaders at the start of the previous round, are the best home team in the category, hoping their fans will propel them back into the direct promotion spots with what would be an eighth consecutive home victory. In the first leg at Castalia (0-2), they showed they know how to hurt Castellón, who, despite being one of the most attractive teams in the category, lack consistency to take a competitive step forward.

On Sunday, Huesca, the second-placed team in LaLiga Hypermotion, will visit Heliodoro Rodríguez López to face a struggling Tenerife. The Aragonese team needs the three points to finish the round in direct promotion positions, and will try to achieve that against a local team that has suffered four consecutive defeats and is 17 points away from safety.

Levante will be the final contender to potentially top the table in the 30th round. They will play at Ciutat de València against a bottom-placed Cartagena side, almost relegated. Therefore, anything other than a victory for Levante would be a huge surprise, benefiting chasing teams like Almería, Granada, or Córdoba.

In addition to the promotion battle, round 30 sees two direct rivals for survival face off, Real Zaragoza and Eldense. The Aragonese team, currently above the relegation zone, will host Eldense at La Romareda, who occupy the last relegation spot to Primera RFEF, five points behind Zaragoza. A home win would ease the pressure on both Zaragoza and a wide group of teams, while an away win would complicate things for everyone involved.
