Levante rose to the top of LaLiga Hypermotion this Sunday by defeating Huesca 1-2 in matchday 31, tied at the top with Racing de Santander who won 2-1 against Tenerife, while Mirandés lost their grip in a tough 2-2 draw against Eldense.
The ‘granota’ team confirmed the slump of Huesca, who suffered their second consecutive defeat after going 14 games unbeaten. Alcoraz also lost its fortress status thanks to Álex Forés, who scored the 1-2 winner in stoppage time.
With Huesca also aiming for direct promotion, the game livened up in the second half when Diego Pampín put the visitors ahead. Joaquín Muñoz equalized, but Levante snatched the three points at the last minute, with Forés coming off the bench to capitalize on a defensive lapse by the home team.
Julian Calero’s side now has 56 points as the new leader, level with Racing who staged a late comeback against a Tenerife side furious with the refereeing and further away from safety. Jose Alberto’s team found themselves trailing after Anthony Landazuri’s 0-1 goal, but in a dramatic and controversial finish, turned the game around with goals from Jon Karrikaburu and Andrés Martín after César Álvarez’s dismissal.
The Canary Islands club released a strong statement after the match demanding «respect» for the refereeing collective. «We cannot ignore that in recent matchdays, we have been the victims of refereeing decisions that have repeatedly harmed the team. CD Tenerife demands the same respect from the refereeing collective that all clubs deserve,» the official statement read.
Meanwhile, Mirandés failed to defend their leadership position as they stumbled at the Estadio Nuevo Pepico Amat when victory seemed within reach. Eldense earned a point in their quest to avoid relegation thanks to Juanto Ortuño’s penalty goal in the 97th minute. The ‘jabatos’ went 0-2 up early in the second half and extended their poor away form in 2025.
Sunday concluded with Cádiz’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Granada, with Chris Ramos scoring in collaboration with the opposing goalkeeper Diego Mariño in the first half. A derby full of chances and intensity until the end, allowing the yellow team to maintain their hopes of reaching the elusive ‘Top 6’, a goal that has been difficult for Granada to achieve, especially away from home.
