El PP solicita la comparecencia de Díaz y Barbón en la Junta tras el accidente en la mina de Cerredo

The president of the PP of Asturias, Álvaro Queipo, announced on Thursday that his party will request an explanation from the Minister of Ecological Transition, Industry, and Commerce, Belarmina Díaz, and the President of the Principality, the socialist Adrián Barbón, following the fatal accident at the Cerredo mine in Degaña.

During his speech at the Regional Executive Committee meeting of the PP, Queipo emphasized the need to clarify the events at the Cerredo mine to prevent such tragedies from happening again. He expressed the importance of honoring the victims, the injured, their families, and the Asturian society. As a result, he announced that both Belarmina Díaz and Adrián Barbón will be called to testify at the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias.

Queipo also raised concerns about the alarming reports of unauthorized extractions, irregular activities, name changes of companies to continue operations, previous accidents, and community alerts about unusual activities, all allegedly known by President Barbón, former councilors now in leadership positions, and Minister Belarmina Díaz.

The opposition leader stressed the necessity for clear explanations and demanded the government to address these issues at the General Assembly. Furthermore, Queipo expressed pride in the collaboration between the PP, various associations, and farmers in Asturias and Spain to remove the wolf from the list of protected species.

He highlighted the party’s commitment to fulfilling promises, such as the reduction of income tax for low earners, despite the rejection by the Asturian Chamber. Queipo also expressed surprise at the regional government’s decision to follow the lead of Salvador Illa from Catalonia in lowering tax rates, raising concerns about potential hidden tax increases for Asturians.

In conclusion, Queipo asserted that the PP is continuously improving its position and is ready to meet the challenges ahead for the benefit of Asturias and its people.
