Por Redaccion On May 4, 2025, the Avilés City Council initiated the process to select the most innovative Avilés-based company of 2025. The chosen company will represent Avilés at the VIII Meeting of Mayors with Innovation of the INNPULSO 2025 Network, scheduled to take place in Gijón on June 25. The theme of the event will revolve around innovation and experimentation in the local context. Candidates are required to submit their applications to empresas@aviles.es by May 23.
Avilés is a proud member of the INNPULSO Network, which consists of 112 Cities of Science and Innovation in Spain. This distinction, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, acknowledges leading cities that support investments in infrastructure to promote economic sustainability and enhance growth based on knowledge and innovation.
According to the selection criteria, the chosen innovative company must have a proven track record of innovation and an ambitious growth plan focusing on innovative solutions in Economic and Social Development, Smart Governance, and Territory.
Participating companies must be established for no more than three years as of January 1, 2025, and must be located within the Avilés jurisdiction. A company is considered to be located in Avilés if its registered office or main workplace is within the jurisdiction.
To participate, companies must submit an executive summary, not exceeding four pages, containing essential information such as company identification details, a description of the company’s activities emphasizing innovative solutions with a positive impact on society, the economy, and the environment, key milestones in the company’s history, marketing and client retention policies, degree of internationalization, membership in business networks, revenue for the past two years, and the number of jobs created.
A technical committee, comprised of a representative from the Business Promotion Section, a representative from the Development Society La Curtidora, and a representative from the Information and Communication Technology Center based in Avilés, will decide on the selected company.
The selection process will consider the following aspects outlined by the INNPULSO network:
a) Maturity of the idea: operational functionality, scalability, and project results.
b) Innovation of the project: novelty and disruption of the project, along with supporting arguments for its value and feasibility.
c) Viability of the project: technical, economic, and organizational feasibility of the project.
d) Team capacity and experience: team potential and involvement.
e) Impact on the territory in areas such as quality employment, sustainable development, and improvement in quality of life for the population.
This process aims to identify and recognize the most innovative company in Avilés, showcasing its contributions to local development and innovation on a broader scale.
