The renovation with LED technology of all the projectors in the stadium will result in greater energy efficiency and lower consumption
The City Council of Avilés has put out a contract for the renovation of the lighting at the Yago Lamela athletics stadium in the Avilés Sports Complex, co-financed with European funds from the Next Generation Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Fund, totaling 272,019.54 euros (including VAT). Interested companies have until May 13 to submit their offers.
The winning company will proceed to replace the existing luminaires with metal halide light sources with LED projectors on the four lighting towers of the stadium. New LED projectors will also be installed on the stands’ canopy and specific lighting for the jump area. The contract includes the removal of existing lighting equipment and its management as waste. The switch to lighting with new technologies will result in greater energy efficiency and consequent consumption savings. The work is expected to be completed in three months.
Specifically, the lighting renovation will involve the installation of 64 LED luminaires of three different types on the four lighting towers of the stadium. 8 projectors will be placed on the stand’s canopy and 2 projectors in the photofinish area.
The project also includes the implementation of a wireless lighting control system, with the establishment of different lighting scenes that will significantly increase performance and visibility in a stadium with a capacity for over 1,100 people.
The control panels of each of the four lighting towers will be reformed to eliminate the current lighting systems and provide new protections suitable for LED technology on the existing lines.
Accessibility Improvement at Avilés Sports Complex
It is worth noting that, also with Next Generation funds, a project is being drafted to improve universal accessibility at the Avilés Sports Complex, as a first stage of an initiative aimed at eliminating physical barriers in facilities that serve thousands of users. Once this study is completed, it will serve as the basis for the necessary works and adaptations in the complex. The works for improving universal accessibility at the sports facilities in El Quirinal will receive 242,542 euros from Next Generation funds.
