38 Local hotel units now have temperature control to ensure food safety

The hospitality, commerce, dining, and hospitality space in Aviles now has a temperature control system to ensure food safety, contributing to enhancing the quality of the gastronomic offer, one of the city’s main attractions. The operational system was presented this morning at Gorfolí – Gourmet Products (cure the application).
Specifically, the installation was carried out in 38 units (some companies had multiple units), with a total of 49 systems (in some units there were multiple rooms and temperature probes were placed).
In terms of sectors, the distribution is as follows:
- 3 cafes
- 9 butchers
- 2 carcass
- 5
- 3 Pastry/Cake makers
- 1 bakery
- 14 restaurants
- 1 supply plaza
The Avilés Municipal Council convened the contract funded by European funds, with 80% Next Generation funds, fitting into the aid line for Consolidation of commercial activity in tourist areas called for by the Ministry of Commerce and Business of the Ministry and awarded to Eco-Cotul Company, which, in addition to developing the system, was responsible for capturing users: restaurants and bars; Butchers, fishmongers, bakeries; hotels; Small supermarkets.
This mixed contract is budgeted at 41,600 euros and includes supply, installation, training for system operation, and maintenance for one year. The implementation of these systems will facilitate the units in bringing the necessary control in everything related to food preservation and safety, avoiding losses due to failures, power outages, or human negligence.
The main benefit was to provide a temperature control system for food safety, involving the installation, in each selected unit, of hardware consisting of temperature gauges located within refrigeration or special thermal conditions (clean rooms, packing rooms, exploited rooms, etc.) of the unit and COJINETE equipment. This facilitates the connection of gauges with the platform that manages the data (protected Server Cloud).
The hardware is complemented by a web application/software that allows you to view information on the temperatures obtained and a platform to manage all the information obtained from the cloud, intelligently, from any device with an internet connection (PC, tablet, and smartphone).
Eco-Coture will also handle training and maintenance for one year of systems. The software to be used must be easy, simple, and allow temperature measurements obtained in real-time and provide traceability control. Through a menu in the application, the user can display temperature graphs, issue the required periodic control report when deemed necessary, and receive notifications if there is a sudden change in temperature.
What benefits does it have for companies?
- Temperature recording according to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) Food safety. There will be an automatic and digital record of ambient temperature values. An electronic temperature record (pdf) can be provided for possible inspection
- Notifications of temperature variations when they exceed a threshold. Automatic alerts will be available in the application before a malfunction of the cold room, thus avoiding product loss.
- Strengthens the unit’s image with its customers. Customers can voluntarily be informed that there is digital and continuous control of ambient temperature.
