Firefighters from the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA), based in Avilés, have extinguished the fire declared in a house located on Avenida Portugal in Avilés. The fire completely affected the bathroom of the house and the smoke affected the rest of the floor. According to data provided by the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU), a minor was intoxicated by smoke inhalation and was transferred by the basic life support ambulance in the area to Hospital San Agustín.
The Emergency Coordination Center received the call at 12:49 hours. The caller reported seeing black smoke coming out of the window of a fourth-floor apartment building. Immediately, eight SEPA firefighters based in the city were mobilized with the first response vehicle, the tanker vehicle, and the ladder truck.
The firefighters declared the fire under control, which affected a clothesline that was in the bathroom, at 13:07 hours. The fire affected the bathroom and the smoke affected the rest of the house. The firefighters performed ventilation tasks due to the smoke generated. The team concluded the intervention upon returning to base at 14:34 hours.
