The Villalegre track is filled with adrenaline with free pumptrack workshops and tournaments for young people
July 6, 2025
During the months of July and August, these activities are aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 16, and no prior registration is required.
The pumptrack workshops at the Villalegre track will start this Monday, July 7, as part of the ‘Summer Youth’ program promoted by the Youth Council. With a total of eight two-hour sessions, they will take place on Mondays from 6 pm to 8 pm and Wednesdays from 11 am to 1 pm, during the months of July and August. No prior registration is required, but the groups will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants, ensuring a more personal and dynamic experience.
Directed at young people between the ages of 12 and 16, the workshops will be led by a monitor who will assist the group in solving doubts, guiding in technique, and motivating teenagers to enjoy to the fullest. The activity is free and open access, with no prior experience required. Participants only need to bring their own bike and helmet, although two bikes will be provided for those who do not have one, ensuring that no one is left out.
In addition to the weekly workshops, small tournaments will be held on weekends designed to test the skills of the participants in a playful environment. Small competitions will be organized in pairs or teams, with challenges of speed, balance, and tricks.
The dates will be on July 20 and August 24, all at the Villalegre circuit from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Pumptrack
A pumptrack is a track designed to be ridden without pedaling, using only the momentum generated by body movement. These circuits, paved and full of banked curves, undulations, and other obstacles like rollers, whoops, or spines, are intended for small bikes and have gained popularity as meeting places for young people and teenagers.
In Asturias, this modality has gained momentum, becoming a fun way to practice a different type of cycling that promotes the development of skills such as agility, balance, and coordination. The key is in the «pumping»: a rhythmic body movement that allows you to progress, gain speed, and perform tricks when going up and down the curves and slopes of the circuit.
More than just a track, the pumptrack is a dynamic space that combines technique and fun, ideal for those looking for new ways to move on two wheels.
This activity is funded under the Corresponsables Plan of the Ministry of Equality.
