Queipo acusa a Barbón de mentir y de subir el IRPF a las clases medias

Los ‘populares’ will bring back to the JGPA a law to lower taxes and compensate for inflation

The president of the PP of Asturias, Álvaro Queipo, said on Saturday in Gijón that the president of the Asturian government, the socialist Adrián Barbón, has once again «deceived the Asturians» with «the lie of his Asturian fiscal path». He commented that the reform now being promoted by the government means raising income tax for the middle class. «A measure that will further empty the pockets of Asturians and that the PP will not support,» Queipo advanced.

«We will not support any tax increases in Asturias,» he warned. According to Queipo, Barbón’s government is one of «inaction, mismanagement, submission to Sánchez, and also of lies.» In this regard, he recalled Barbón’s recent statements ruling out tax increases despite IU’s announcements of a pact in this regard.

«If he is going to continue the economic policies of Izquierda Unida, I ask at least that he does not lie about it, because this is not the way to grow or attract investments and talent to Asturias,» warned the PP leader.

The popular president emphasized that Barbón’s idea of raising taxes, income tax and the Property Transfer Tax, has an expiration date: May 2027. «In two years, the Popular Party government will end all tax increases carried out by the bipartisan government,» he assured.

Queipo pointed out that Barbón himself is aware that Asturians see his government as bad for Asturias. «As he is so worried and to avoid talking about his negligence in the tragic accident at the Cerredo mine in response to a question of mine in the General Assembly, he was forced to announce his reform of income tax to divert attention and not respond. Pure Sanchismo,» he lamented.

The leader of the Asturian opposition lamented that Barbón continues to do nothing to compensate for the impact that inflation has had on the incomes of Asturians in recent years.

«The PSOE has made us endure a tax pressure that has emptied the pockets of Asturians, and the PP wants just the opposite, we want a tax reduction, a fiscal relief that ensures that money is precisely in the pockets of citizens and not in the coffers of a government that does not know how to manage. We want to promote savings, consumption, and investment, that is, we want more economic growth and more employment, and to at least reach the level of neighboring regions. We cannot allow ourselves to pay more taxes just for being Asturians,» he said.

After recalling that Barbón and the PSOE have been voting against PP initiatives for years to lower income tax for middle and low incomes and to increase the exempt part of the tax, Queipo announced that the PP will once again submit to the Assembly the bill to lower income tax for Asturians and compensate for the additional taxes they have paid, and are paying, due to inflation.

GIJÓN

Álvaro Queipo made these statements at the closing of the event commemorating the two years of PP government in Gijón, in which the deputy mayor, Ángela Pumariega, also participated, highlighting her «excellent work», and the president of the Gijón Popular Party, Andrés Ruiz.

Queipo has insisted that the work of the PP in Gijón is a good example of what the party wants for all of Asturias, with policies to generate growth and employment, a «decisive commitment» to the freedom of individuals, the defense of Asturias «without excuses,» and the improvement of the lives of Asturians.

He highlighted the work carried out by Ángela Pumariega at the head of the Economic Promotion area, laying the foundations for the city to «create more technology-based and quality employment with great appeal for young people to stay in their land, and even for many to return who left because they did not find opportunities here.»
