More than 300 students from 15 cooperatives are participating in the school market that will take place on May 20th.
September 9, 2025
The councilor of Urban and Economic Development, Manuel Campa, received a delegation of 15 school cooperatives participating in the projects: European Young Company (EJE) for Secondary students; a Company in My School (EME) for Primary students; a Company in My Center (EMC) for students with special educational needs and integration support centers; and Young Social Entrepreneurs (JES).
These projects have been developed during the academic year in the Avilés region and will have their main event on May 20th when the Market of Cooperatives and Educational Associations of Asturias 2025 will take place, where they will sell their products.
This event is part of the Entrepreneurial Culture Promotion Program of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, coordinated by Valnalón Technological City and in collaboration with the Municipalities. In Avilés and the surrounding area, there are 15 cooperatives involving a total of 11 educational centers—8 in Avilés, 2 in Pravia, and 1 in Castrillón— with 314 students supported by 25 teachers.
The objective of the program is to promote entrepreneurial spirit and acquire business skills, so on May 20th, they will try to sell the products they have developed throughout the course.

Description of Educational Projects
EME – Entrepreneurship in My School: A project for Primary Education students that teaches them to create and manage a cooperative. The products are sold in a market, with profits going towards joint activities and social work.
EJE – European Young Company: Aimed at Secondary Education students, this project promotes the creation of mini-cooperative businesses that trade products locally and in Europe, analyzing results and distributing profits.
EMC – A Company in My Center: Focused on students with special educational needs and Integration Support Centers, this project promotes the creation of cooperatives to manufacture and sell artisanal products, with profits going towards joint and social activities.
JES – Young Social Entrepreneurs: Directed at Secondary Education students, this educational project promotes entrepreneurial culture where students establish and manage an NGO or association. They organize and carry out activities with the aim of funding a social project that addresses a detected need in their immediate environment or in cooperation with students from a Southern country.
