The Prosecutor’s Office of the Principality of Asturias has requested the conviction of a couple accused of pushing, insulting, and threatening Guardia Civil officers. They are seeking a one-year prison sentence for the man and nine months for the woman. The oral hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m. in Penal Court number 3 of Oviedo.
The Public Prosecutor alleges that on the night of May 20, 2023, a person at a bar near Posada de Llanera Park called 112 because the accused was aggressively reprimanding his underage daughter and mistreating her mother at a nearby table. Guardia Civil officers arrived at the park following the informant’s directions and found the accused inside a car with the minor.
The officers asked the accused to roll down the car window to speak with him and then step out of the vehicle. The accused adopted a confrontational and disrespectful attitude towards the officers, refused to provide identification, and physically attacked one of the guards, resisting arrest. During the scuffle, another guard intervened to assist his colleague but also ended up being kicked and hit.
Despite the officers’ instructions, the female accomplice of the detained individual, who was with another minor, threatened the officers. She was informed that she would be fined for her behavior. Subsequently, she went to the police station and, after speaking with the officer on duty, began banging on the entrance door, verbally abusing the officers with derogatory language.
After leaving briefly, the woman returned and continued to disturb the peace by hitting the door and ringing the bell. Around quarter to one in the morning on the 21st, the guards managed to place the accused in an official vehicle parked in front of the station. At this point, the female accomplice attempted to disrupt the judicial process by trying to enter the premises, pushing the guards and causing one of them to fall in the process. She was promptly arrested.
The Prosecutor’s Office believes that these actions constitute the offenses of assault, two counts of battery, and another offense of assault committed by the accused individuals.
