The Transition Minister resigned yesterday afternoon to the head of the Executive: «I will not be an obstacle to the investigation, nor to knowing the truth, nor for justice to be done.»
The President of the Principality stated today that the parliamentary groups «from the right and the far right» are not interested in knowing the truth about the Blue Solving accident, «but in eroding the action of the Government of Asturias, of the reformist government of progressive unity.» Adrián Barbón made these statements after the resignation of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Industry, and Commerce, Belarmina Díaz.
Díaz announced in the plenary of the General Assembly that yesterday afternoon she presented her irrevocable resignation to the President. «Since the accident, my only goal has been investigation, truth, and justice. I am clear that in no case will I be an obstacle to the investigation, nor to knowing the truth, nor for justice to be done,» she said in parliament.
Díaz announced her decision after appearing to explain the accident that caused the death of five miners in Zarréu due to an explosion and seriously injured four others on March 31. The company Blue Solving lacked any permission for coal extraction, it could only recover materials and machinery from the galleries and pre-existing mineral deposits in the operation.
Adrián Barbón explained that the Minister conveyed her decision to him «freely and voluntarily» yesterday and thanked her gesture: «She does it, as she herself said, so that the truth is known, so that it can be taken to the end, so that they do not use her as an excuse and so that justice is done with the mining families.» As he highlighted, Díaz’s resignation reflects generosity in the face of «the partisan use of pain» practiced by certain political groups.
«I commit to do everything in my power, as I promised the families, so that the truth is known,» reiterated the President, who announced that the change in the ministry will take place next week.
The head of the Executive also reviewed the measures that the government has been taking since the 31st, for example, the creation of a specific investigation commission within the mining security commission, the intervention of the General Inspection of Services, the decision to appear as a private prosecution in the judicial procedure, or the reinforcement of the Cangas del Narcea court.
