Enfoca Talento 9 participants meet the mentors who will welcome them to their companies
Feb 14, 2025
• The Councilor for Training and Employment, Juan Carlos Guerrero, greeted the participants of Project Enfoca Talento 9 who presented their employment projects to the directors and businesswomen of national and multinational companies in the region collaborating in this program.
The Enfoca Talento 9 project, promoted by the Training and Employment department of the Avilés City Council, will begin a new phase of its development next week. In this phase, the female participants will have direct contact with the local companies and the directors and businesswomen who will advise, support, and welcome them.
Public-private collaboration remains a strong commitment by the Training and Employment department, as it allows for the consolidation of networking with local companies to retain female talent in Avilés. In this context, companies have once again proven to be key players in meeting the needs of the municipality’s residents.
Prior to this, a networking breakfast took place this Friday between the female participants in the project and the mentors from both national and multinational companies in the area. These mentors provided advice and guidance to the participants. The event was attended by Councilor Juan Carlos Guerrero.
The purpose of the meeting was for the participants to present their employment projects to the mentors using the elevator pitch technique. This technique involves condensing a message that captures someone’s attention in a few seconds or minutes, resulting in an interview or meeting with that person later on.
The meeting was successful, not only due to the high participation of mentors but also because of the insights gained from interacting with the participants. It also highlighted the importance of sisterhood and creating support networks to retain female talent in the region. The following companies and entities participated in the event: Amazon, Aguas de Avilés, Randstad, FADE, Saint-Gobain, Fraternidad Muprespa, Satec, DXC Technology, University of Oviedo, IDESA, Iquord, Gonvarri, Uría Ingeniería, Algama Servicios Culturales, Grupo Konecta, Windar Renovables, Centro Médico de Asturias, Arcelor, Cogersa, Corteva, Escadem, ADECCO, Asociación de Empresa Familiar, FEMETAL, IDESA, Mujeres de Empresa, and Acciona Construcción.
Following this initial contact, the next phase of the project will begin next week, where the mentors will welcome the participants to start a relationship of personal and professional development. In this way, more experienced individuals will help those with less experience by guiding, advising, and mentoring them in their professional journey.
The Enfoca Talento 9 project, initiated by the Training and Employment department of the Avilés City Council on January 10, 2025, will last for 6 months. Its goal is to enhance the proactivity, empowerment, and employability of the female participants through a series of orientation, training, and mentoring actions that enable them to acquire or improve the personal and professional skills necessary for entering or re-entering the job market.
This project is designed for long-term sustainability, allowing for the internalization of new knowledge and skills through a completely practical and experiential methodology. The project includes the following actions:
– Vocational exploration activities: Individual sessions focused on exploring interests and defining or redefining professional goals.
– Training activities: Group training sessions aimed at developing competencies and capabilities. In this learning block, training sessions called «Speed Learning» have been conducted.
– Professional Project: Individual sessions for each participant to develop their professional project.
– Mentoring activities: Individual actions, starting next week, in collaboration with female businesswomen and directors from the Asturias region.
The project also offers experiences from female businesswomen and directors, allowing participants to learn about different professional life paths, as well as key professional advice and competencies in an increasingly digitized work environment.
The project will conclude in June 2025 with a closing event that will bring together all collaborating companies and female participants.
In the previous edition of the program, 9 participants (60%) entered the job market.
