Las matriculaciones de turismos aumentan un 14,28% en Asturias hasta junio

The Principality of Asturias has recorded 6,379 car registrations in the first half of the year, representing a 14.28 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, above the national average (13.9%), according to data from the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), dealers (Faconauto), and sellers (Ganvam).

In June, car registrations in the Principality increased by 14.1%, reaching 1,303 units.

NATIONAL DATA

Car and SUV registrations in Spain reached 609,801 units in the first half of the year, a 13.9% increase compared to the same period last year.

Both the good pace of the electrified market and the boost from sales in the DANA Zone, due to the incentives of the Reinicia Auto+ Plan extended until October, are crucial for this positive market evolution. However, the market is still 12% below the 2019 pre-pandemic levels.

In June alone, 119,125 vehicles were registered in Spain, a 15.23% increase compared to the same month in 2024 and a higher number of units sold compared to May, when registrations stood at 112,820.

By channels, private customers purchased 48,836 cars and SUVs in June, a 28.8% increase year-on-year, while companies registered 42,208 units in the sixth month of the year (+14.2%). On the other hand, car rental companies acquired 28,081 units in the national market in June, a 1.5% decrease compared to the previous year.

Year-to-date, private registrations grew by 18.6% to 256,859 units, while corporate registrations increased by 9.8% to 197,964 units. Car rental companies, on the other hand, registered 154,978 cars, a 11.9% annual increase.

Additionally, registrations of light commercial vehicles reached 18,551 units in May, a 13.6% increase compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date, they grew by 11.1% to 94,911 units.

By type, derivatives, vans, and pickups increased by 2.9% year-on-year in the sixth month of 2025, reaching 8,611 units. Meanwhile, vans and light chassis trucks registered 9,940 units in June, a 24.9% increase year-on-year.

In the first half of the year, derivatives, vans, and pickups grew by 13.4% to 49,303 units, while vans and light chassis trucks increased by 8.8% to 45,608 units so far.

Meanwhile, in June, industrial vehicles experienced a 6.2% year-on-year decrease with 2,597 units, while buses, coaches, and minibuses, with 377 sales in the sixth month of 2025, saw an 8% increase.

The automotive industry in Spain reflects that industrial vehicle, bus, coach, and minibus registrations have decreased by 12.7% by June, totaling 16,219 units, of which 14,044 belong to industrial vehicles (-13.6%) and 2,175 to buses, coaches, and minibuses (-6.9%).

OVER 10,000 ELECTRIC VEHICLES SOLD IN JUNE

Regarding sales by fuel type, June saw the milestone of surpassing 10,000 electric vehicles, with a 104.6% year-on-year increase (reaching 11,334 units). Plug-in hybrid models (PHEV) recorded 13,443 sales, a 158.2% increase compared to June last year.

In the total month, electrified vehicles (BEV+PHEV) accounted for one in five sales (20.8%) and with a total of 24,777 units, achieved a growth of 130.7%. With these figures, it marks «the historical maximum in a month for the sales of electrified cars,» as stated by the manufacturers’ association.

Year-to-date, there have been 103,349 sales of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, with 46,445 corresponding to electric car sales (+84.6%) and 55,904 units to plug-in hybrids (+81.8%).

Non-plug-in hybrids (HEV) remained the most popular engine type in June with a 39.2% market share and 46,639 sales, a 24.3% increase year-on-year. In the annual aggregate, they lead the year with 253,914 deliveries, a 32.8% increase year-on-year.

Combustion engine vehicles continue to decline, with gasoline cars decreasing by 13.7% in June year-on-year, with 34,889 deliveries, maintaining a market share of 29.3%, remaining as the second most popular engine type last month in Spain.

Cars of this type also declined by 13.4% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, with 188,279 units registered.

Diesel, on the other hand, plummeted by 45.2% in June this year, with 6,589 units registered, and holds a market share of 5.5%, positioning itself as the fifth engine type in June, ahead of gas cars. Until June, diesel cars decreased by 37.8% annually with 34,245 units.

Registrations of gas vehicles advanced by 137.1% year-on-year in June, reaching 6,231 units, achieving a market share of 5.2%. Likewise, gas-powered cars registered 31,014 units in the first six months of the year, a 97.3% increase compared to the same period last year.

With the results from June, the national market achieves ten consecutive months of growth. Anfac positively values these results and the advancement of electrification in the vehicle fleet.
