Juventud will have a playful summer program of free activities for young people and adolescents.
19 jun. 2025
The Youth Council launches ‘Verano Joven’, a program of activities that will take place in neighborhoods and beaches around the region, by bicycle, on foot, and also by boat. A proposal to enjoy urban and nature experiences, during the mornings and some afternoons of the months of July, August, and September.
The activities are aimed at young people in the municipality between 12 and 16 years old. Participation is free and open, except for camps with meal service, which require prior registration.
During the month of July, ‘Verano Joven’ offers various activities for young audiences. From Monday to Friday, the Young Urban Camps of Avilés (CUJA) will be held at the CEIP Enrique Alonso, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The pumptrack track in Villalegre will be the meeting point for those who want to practice this discipline: on Monday afternoons from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday mornings from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Those interested in exploring the natural environment can participate in the program ‘SonRía’, with walking and boat routes through the Ría de Avilés, every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., aimed at those under 30. English also has its space with dynamic sessions based on games and music that will take place on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fuero Building.
Saturday, July 26 will be the time to cycle through Llaranes Park with the activity ‘A View from the Bike’. Additionally, sports and competition will arrive on Sundays, July 6 and 20, with mini pump games tournaments.
In August, the program remains active with new proposals and the continuity of some activities started in July. Pumptrack sessions will continue at the Villalegre track, moving to El Pozón Park on Saturday 9 and La Luz Park on Saturday 30.
The ‘SonRía’ program will continue on Tuesdays, offering walking and boat routes to discover the Ría de Avilés. Thursday mornings, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will be dedicated to games and creativity, with activities in downtown Avilés and workshops at the Fuero Building. English sessions will also continue at the same time as in July.
Fridays will be reserved for enjoying the coast. If the weather permits, the group will go to the beach; if not, excursions along the coastal path will be organized. In addition, on Mondays and Wednesdays, Ferrera Park will be the scene of ‘Ferrera Jugón’, an initiative that invites participation in a wide variety of physical and mental games outdoors.
The summer extends into September, and with it, ‘Verano Joven’ continues with new cultural and creative proposals. During the weekend of September 6-7, an artistic camp will be held at the Youth Space of the Fuero Building. From 11:00 a.m. on Saturday until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, 20 young people will explore different forms of expression such as scenic creation, drawing, writing, photography, video, radio-podcast, and film forum.
Coinciding with the XXX Comic Days of Avilés, workshops will be held at the La Noria building aimed at different audiences: on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. for children, on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for teenagers, and on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. for young people.
Saturdays will be dedicated to reflection and art with excursions to museums that invite reflection on the representation of women in cultural institutions. Visits will include the Botín Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, and the Niemeyer Center.
Activities in July
From Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the young urban camps of Avilés (CUJA) will be held at the CEIP Enrique Alonso. They include games, workshops, sports, swimming pool, beach, and meal service, facilitating the reconciliation of work and personal life for families during school holidays. To participate, registration is required before June 20.
On Monday afternoons from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday mornings from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the pumptrack track in Villalegre will host open sessions where participants can practice pumping movements, curves, and advanced trajectories, obstacle courses, as well as races and competitions under the supervision of a monitor. No registration is necessary, just show up.
On Tuesdays at 11 a.m., the ‘SonRía’ program invites participants to explore the Ría de Avilés and discover a natural environment reclaimed for the city, worthy of being known, valued, and enjoyed. The environmental routes, aimed at those under 30, combine a walking section from the Niemeyer Center towards the interior of the estuary, and a boat trip towards its mouth in the sea. Participation is free up to the boat’s capacity (9 people).
On Thursdays, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Fuero Building will host dynamic and fun English sessions based on games, music, and participation. An hour and a half to learn while enjoying, which can be attended any Thursday, with no commitment to continuity.
On Saturday, July 26, Llaranes Park will be explored by bike with the activity ‘A View from the Bike’. Additionally, sports and competitions will take place on Sundays, July 6 and 20, with mini pump games tournaments.
