La OSPA estrena ‘A la memoria de un ángel’

La Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA) presents its sixth subscription concert of the 2024-25 season, which will have two sessions on Thursday and Friday in Avilés and Oviedo, respectively. Under the direction of its titular and artistic director, Nuno Coelho, the orchestra will perform the program ‘In Memory of an Angel’, featuring violinist Carolin Widmann.

The first session of the subscription concert will take place on Thursday, February 20th, at 8:15 p.m. at the Casa de Cultura in Avilés. The following day, Friday the 21st, the stage will move to the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe in Oviedo at 8:00 p.m. As an additional activity, the audience of this second performance will have the opportunity to attend a pre-concert talk with Nuno Coelho at 7:15 p.m. in the auditorium’s chamber hall.

The repertoire of ‘In Memory of an Angel’ includes three fundamental works in the history of music. The evening will begin with ‘Ma mère l’oye’ by Maurice Ravel, an orchestral suite that evokes children’s tales with great delicacy and orchestral color. Next, Carolin Widmann will perform the Violin Concerto by Alban Berg, a piece dedicated to the memory of Manon Gropius, the daughter of Alma Mahler and Walter Gropius. Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90, will conclude the evening.
