This Saturday, May 17, the International Day against LGTBIfobia is commemorated worldwide, of great importance to make visible the fight for equality and rights of LGTBI people. Also, the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is celebrated in Basel, Switzerland. In a symbolic union, the youth of Avilés celebrates it with great pride, thanks to a special broadcast at the Youth Space, starting at 7:30 pm.
Eurovision, more than a musical event, has represented for decades a space of visibility and celebration for LGTBI people, becoming an annual reference for cultural and affective diversity. Through this activity, the Youth Council offers a healthy and inclusive leisure alternative, where young people can share a unique, fun, and meaningful experience, while also advocating fundamental values of coexistence and diversity.
The Eurovision Night at the Youth Space in Avilés represents a unique opportunity to offer a space for meeting, participation, and celebration of diversity, coinciding with two dates of great significance: the International Day against LGTBIfobia and the Eurovision Song Contest final. With this activity, the Avilés Youth Space reinforces its commitment to the values of respect, tolerance, and equality.
The activity will consist of a special broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 final, combined with an international dinner, thematic games, and participatory dynamics, and no registration is required:
- 7:30 pm. Welcome and International Dinner. Each participant or group will contribute a typical dish from a country participating in Eurovision. We will have themed tables decorated, accompanied by informative posters about each country and its gastronomy. Explanation of the rules and participation dynamics.
- 8:00–12:30 pm. Viewing of the Eurovision Final Projection on a large screen, with suitable sound system. Development of Eurovision thematic games simultaneously with the viewing.
