Gastronáutica reaches its fourth edition combining food, nautical sports, and leisure for all audiences.
09 July 2025
From Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 13, Gastronáutica will take place at the Manuel Ponga promenade.
Once again, Avilés pays tribute to its seafaring tradition and sea products with the fourth edition of Gastronáutica. The event will take place at the Manuel Ponga Santamarta promenade in the Avilés estuary this weekend, from Friday, July 11, to Sunday, July 13.
Organized by the City Council, with the collaboration of the Port of Avilés, the Marina de Avilés Nautical Club, and the Union of Merchants of Avilés and the Region (UCAYC), the event was presented this morning by Raquel Ruiz, Councilor for Commerce and Tourism of Avilés, accompanied by Mario Bada, President of the Marina de Avilés Club, Victoria Cuesta from UCAYC, and restaurateurs Marcos Arjona and David Franqueira.
Gastronáutica, coinciding with the maritime festival of Carmen, aims to strengthen Avilés’ connection with its estuary through a comprehensive program that includes nautical sports, food, crafts, concerts, and children’s activities, all free of charge.
Ruiz explained that it is «a tourist event that combines sports, family, and gastronomy proposals in a unique setting, complementing the summer offerings of the estuary, such as boat trips, visits to the Portus Space and the Interpretation Center of the Avilés Cannons, or visits to the Fish Market.»
She recalled that Gastronáutica was created to «combine tourism with an area in which we already have experience, such as gastronomy,» noting that «the main niche of foreign visitors to Avilés, made up of French and British tourists, comes from countries where sailing is a key economic driver. That’s why we found it very interesting to create this proposal.»
The gastronomic focus is based, according to Ruiz, on three factors: «the quality of the dining establishments, the careful selection of local raw materials, and the immense popular ‘passion’ for gastronomy-based events.»
Gastronáutica solidifies its presence in this fourth edition among other well-known names already associated with Avilés in terms of leisure and gastronomy, such as the Famous Wine Festival, Bocados Marineros, Sabores de Plaza en Plaza, La Semana de la Tapa, or Las Tapas de la Seronda and de Las Cofradías.
Ruiz concluded by highlighting that «summer is the ideal time to promote one of our quality products: the trusted fish from the Avilés Fish Market, within the Asturias Food Paradise brand.»
Ten Stalls
A total of ten stalls decorated with maritime motifs will be set up along the estuary promenade. Half of them will be dedicated to local hospitality businesses: La Leyenda, El Caño del Reguero, La Bocatería, La Cantina de Villalegre, and a final stall shared by the establishments Filan, Bombé, and Piazza.
All of them will offer at least one dish made with fish labeled Rula de Avilés, on Friday from 18:00 to 00:00, and on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00. In addition, freshly cut ham will be available for those who eat at these stalls at 12:30 on Saturday.
Three other stalls will be transformed into sales points for three canning companies: one local, Miravalles, as well as La Costera and Conservas Gloria from Gijón, who will share a booth, and Bedón Acuacultura from Llanes. Artisanal maritime decoration products will also be sold at two stalls: Oceanía and Artemar.
Children’s Activities and Musical Performances
The venue will feature space for children’s activities and musical performances. Children will enjoy workshops creating marine landscapes with wooden fish and sea stones, as well as inflatables for different age groups during the three days of the event, inspired by maritime themes.
Music will take center stage, with six scheduled performances: Spoiler and Valvulina (Friday 11), Son Cubano, Kike Suárez, and Acústica (Saturday 12), and on Sunday 13, Feos, Fuertes y Formales, and Insolentes.
