«We have to be the first line of defense to protect decent employment,» commits the union leader
The Secretary General of CCOO of Asturias, José Manuel Zapico, was re-elected this Tuesday at the 14th congress of the union held in Gijón.
He also warned that the extreme right «advances unchecked» and that millionaires take control of governments «to have total impunity and impose looting and greed.» He considered that Democracy and the Welfare State model are «in danger,» and also warned that the jobs of thousands of workers are at risk. «We have to be the first line of defense to protect decent employment, to defend fair wages, to defend rights and freedoms against those who show us the chainsaw or salute with their arm raised,» Zapico emphasized.
