On May 26, 2025, a new parking facility was inaugurated in La Grandiella, Avilés. This new parking area offers a rest area for 2 motorhomes, 4 pre-equipped spaces for electric vehicles, 4 spaces for reduced mobility, and 15 spaces for motorcycles.
The parking facility, with a capacity for 120 vehicles, represents a significant investment of 381,570.38 euros and was carried out by the company Arposa 60 SL. The European Union funded 80% of the project through the Next Generation EU funds, aligning with the objectives of modernization, digitalization, and tourism recovery.
The purpose of this parking facility is to alleviate traffic congestion in the city center by providing a strategic location for visitors to park their vehicles and easily access the heart of the town on foot, by bike, or using public transportation. This initiative also aligns with the city’s sustainability goals outlined in the Urban Mobility
