The Municipal Professional Conservatory Julián Orbón has organized, through the string department, the I Asturian Violin Meeting, which will take place this Saturday, March 15. 76 students from all elementary and professional conservatories in Asturias will participate.
It was presented this morning by the Councilor for Culture, Yolanda Alonso, accompanied by the conservatory director, Carlos Galán, and the head of the conservatory’s string department, Natalia García.
This meeting aims to promote the study of the violin, have a day of coexistence for all students of this instrument in the Principality of Asturias, and the opportunity to prepare a final concert in which the 76 students attending this event will participate.
There will be rehearsals in group violin classes, organized by levels. These classes will be led by the assisting faculty and will aim to work on a repertoire adapted to each level, which will be presented in a final concert.
There will also be a coexistence meal, as well as various workshops for students: a musical games workshop, aimed at students in the first cycle of Elementary Education, and a lutherie workshop, led by Jardón Rico, aimed at students from the second cycle of Elementary Education and Professional Education.
The closing concert, in which the students will perform arrangements for groups of classical works and soundtracks, will take place at the Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura de Avilés at 7:30 p.m.
Alonso also announced the intention to hold open days at the new headquarters of the Conservatory once the move has been completed. «We want the conservatory to not only be an educational center but to have open doors and windows, for citizens to get to know us, know what is done here, and feel it as their own,» she declared.
