Achraf Jabha, a Moroccan citizen residing in Spain, began a dry hunger strike on March 5 in front of the Ministry of Services and Social Rights of the Principality of Asturias in Oviedo to demand a dignified housing solution and social inclusion measures.
«I have invested all my resources in training as a professional heavy vehicle driver, hoping to find a job and move forward. However, the lack of a housing alternative has put all my effort and future at risk,» he stated.
The man explained that he has been peacefully protesting for two months after leaving the Cano Mata shelter, where he suffered psychological abuse. «I was a victim of psychological abuse and degrading conditions at the shelter, which led me to leave voluntarily in a moment of desperation,» he emphasized.
Currently, he sleeps on the street in front of the Ministry, using a sleeping bag and enduring adverse weather conditions. «I am currently sleeping on the street, in a sleeping bag in front of the Ministry, with my clothes wet and trembling from cold and weakness,» he recounted.
He is requesting the intervention of the media to shed light on his situation. «I need the media to bring visibility to my case so that the authorities stop ignoring me and take urgent action,» he concluded.
