Gijón destaca en Economía Azul con Congreso de Ingeniería Naval

   Gijón will host next week, from March 26 to 28, the most important forum on naval engineering and maritime industry held in our country, placing the naval sector at the center of the Blue Economy. It is the 64th International Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry, organized by the Association of Naval and Oceanic Engineers of Spain.

   The event will take place at the Congress Palace under the theme «The naval and maritime industry as the engine of the Blue Economy. A sustainable future for all».

   The president of the Association of Naval and Oceanic Engineers of Spain, Diego Fernández Casado, has indicated that with this event, the importance of the so-called ‘Blue Economy’ in our present and future becomes evident.

   «At the center of the Blue Economy, the oceans and seas, which host 90% of global transportation; constitute one of the main bases of global food supply; and the origin of sustainable energy with the greatest transformative capacity,» he added.

INAUGURAL CONFERENCE

   A Master Lecture by Álvaro Platero Díaz, president of Astilleros Gondán and Pymar, will kick off the Congress. In his speech, Platero will trace the evolution of Gondán in its 100 years of history, from its origins as a wooden shipyard to becoming an international reference in the construction of high-tech and value-added vessels.
