The businessman José Manuel Ferreira presented the necessary guarantees on Monday at the headquarters of the Asturian Business Federation (FADE) as part of the electoral process initiated on March 13 to become the president of FADE. He highlighted the «difficulties» of this «express process» that is proving to be «very uncomfortable.» «If done properly and calmly, it strengthens organizations, but if done in a twisted way, it divides entrepreneurs and impoverishes us,» he asserted.
In statements to the media, he referred to the «difficulties and irregularities» experienced since the beginning of this electoral process that are still being kept hidden. Despite this, he said that his candidacy has managed to «inspire, mobilize, and gather support» to become a candidate.
«We had the ideas, we had the enthusiasm, we had a clear purpose, a firm determination, and proven experience. But now, in addition, we have the guarantees,» he expressed, ensuring that his candidacy aims to «showcase the strength of ideas» rather than guarantees.
CRITICISM OF MARÍA CALVO
On the other hand, Ferreira criticized the current president and candidate for re-election, María Calvo, accusing her of having agreed to «vote with the leaders of the large business associations before calling elections, with the purpose of putting a lock on the electoral process; thus, hijacking the vote from its legitimate representatives.»
Nevertheless, he said that among the supporters, there is the backing of «a large part of the associations» from industrial estates, freight transport associations, associations in the tourism sector, in healthcare and elderly care, in services to companies, and in commerce, among others.
Ferreira also made a renewed call to Calvo for a public debate. «We still have time to do things right and provide companies with the best possible information to assist them in their decision-making process,» he said.
