Avilés debuts in Spain the large-format music «Romeo and Juliet» from the Valdés Theater

There is no large-scale show that the Valdés Palace Theater cannot handle as a platform to launch in Spain. Therefore, the theater manufacturer’s properties, responsible for other box office hits such as «Peter Pan» or «La Movida,» chose Avilés for the absolute premiere of the musical «Romeo and Juliet.» In a triple session, on the second day of the morning, Friday, February 7, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8 at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the Casa de la Cultura box office, as well as on the website www.teatpapalaciovaldes.es and www.unientradas.es, and from two hours before the start, at the theater. Prices range from 20 to 48 euros.
It was presented this morning in the lobby of the Theater Yolanda Alonso, cultural advisor of Avilés, accompanied by Tomás Padilla, executive producer of the musical; The director of the show and the lead actress, Silvia Villaú, who plays Juliet, and her male counterpart, Giampaolo Picucci, who plays Romeo; In addition to Antonio Ródenas, who dresses as another protagonist, the author himself, William Shakespeare.
A production took care of every detail, with a completely original score, transforming each performance into a new and dazzling experience for the audience. Created by César Belda, the music captivates the heart, unraveling the essence of a work as interesting as Universal, involving the complexity of emotions and personal conflicts experienced by the protagonists.
The story transcends the centuries: when love is embodied in the branches of destiny, there is no one to stop it… he is called Romeo and is a mountain; She, Juliet, a head. The children of two great rival families in Verona. An impossible love in the eyes of the city. A love inevitable and sincere that will make them the most beloved of universal literature.
«Romeo and Juliet the Musical,» based on the original work of William Shakespeare, presents the odyssey of unconditional and forbidden love, the power of friendship, the webs of hatred, the non-resistance to revenge, and the tragedy of a legendary and mythical story.
Evocative Set Design
An elegant landscape and delicate lighting recreate the atmosphere of the era in one of Italy’s most magical cities: Verona. A luxurious costume design that takes care of every detail, prepared after thorough documentation to recreate the society in which its author lived (the sixteenth century). Fabrics with velvet, fur, leather, embroidery, lace, gold, silk… in the style of Broadway’s biggest productions.
And dance appears in the way music does, in a unique setting. Effective choreographers, with excellent fight scenes that offer an exciting, agile, and intense rhythm. All under the leadership of a prestigious artistic team and the support of Spain’s longest-serving music producer.
Silvia Villaú directs, stars, signs the choreography, and adapts the booklet; The music and musical direction are by César Belda, the author of the libretto and lyrics with calls from Bello; Alberto Zerrada is the master of arms; Tomás Padilla puts his stamp on the set and lighting, and the Properties Theatre, the performance producer, is also responsible for designing the costumes.
