El SEPA trabaja en la extinción de incendios en once municipios de Asturias

   El Principado de Asturias has reported at the start of this Thursday twelve active forest fires in eleven municipalities, as informed by the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA). These fires are located in Cangas de Onís, Cangas del Narcea, Lena, Llanes, Morcín, Piloña, Peñamellera Alta, Ribadedeva, Yernes y Tameza, Tineo and Valdés.

   The firefighters of SEPA are still working on the fires located in the Valledor Sierra, in Cangas del Narcea, where two forest company crews and personnel from the Natural Environment Guard of the Principality are also mobilized. They are also working on the fire declared in the town of Mones, in Valdés, alongside a forest company.

   Likewise, a team from the Tineo park has been mobilized for another fire located in the Bustellán area in the Tineo municipality itself. In the east, firefighters were mobilized until 5:30 am in the fire in Ruenes, Peñamellera Alta, which, along with the rest of the fires in the region, will be reviewed throughout the morning.

   The Minister of Mobility, Local Cooperation, and Emergency Management, Alejandro Calvo, declared at 9:40 pm this Wednesday the transition to emergency phase at ‘situation 0’ of the Forest Fires Plan of the Principality of Asturias (INFOPA) considering the number of forest fires declared and the predicted weather conditions in the coming hours, with south winds and gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour in the Cordillera and Picos de Europa.
