Racing de Santander defeated (2-0) and took the lead in LaLiga Hypermotion from Elche this Sunday in matchday 29, while Levante won (1-2) against Eldense with two goals in stoppage time, aiming for direct promotion spots.
In the battle for the top spot at El Sardinero, the home team came out strong and scored two goals in the first 20 minutes with strikes from Juan Arana and Aritz Aldasoro. Eder Sarabia’s team controlled the ball but struggled to create danger, uncomfortable against a solid Racing side.
Elche thus relinquished the top spot they held last week to Racing, who now lead with 52 points compared to Elche’s 50. The ‘Top 6’ remain closely matched, all within reach of direct promotion, as Levante achieved.
The ‘granota’ team also climbed to third with 50 points thanks to an epic comeback at Pepico Amat, where goals from Roger Brugué in the 91st minute and Carlos Espi in the 94th turned the game around. Eldense found themselves out of the relegation spots but ended up fourth from the bottom.
Meanwhile, Real Oviedo suffered a 1-2 loss against Deportivo de La Coruña, their first defeat at Carlos Tartiere in 2025, missing out on the two direct promotion spots in the 50-point cluster. The Asturians improved as the game went on but failed to complete the comeback after equalizing the Galician goal in the first half, with Ximo Navarro scoring the winner in the 91st minute.
On the other hand, this Sunday saw Gaizka Garitano’s first defeat in charge of Cádiz after eleven matches. The Andalusian team suffered a resounding 3-0 loss to a needy Albacete side. Additionally, Córdoba is now looking up with 42 points and three consecutive wins, following a tremendous 5-0 victory over Granada led by Álex Sala.
