Mieres will host the middle degree of Machinery Electromechanics, while Gijón/Xixón will host the higher degree of Construction Works Organization and Control. The offer for the upcoming year in the first courses will be 12,475 places, 170 more than the current year.
The Principality’s Government will introduce five new offerings in Vocational Training for the 2025-2026 academic year: two cycles and three specialization courses that will be taught for the first time in Asturias. Additionally, the offer will be adapted and expanded in eight existing titles.
Educational centers in the Principality will have 12,475 places for the first courses of basic, middle, and higher degrees, spread across 110 face-to-face cycles and 10 specialization courses. This offer represents an increase of 170 places compared to the current academic year.
The two new cycles are a middle degree in Machinery Electromechanics, which will be implemented intensively at IES Sánchez Lastra in Mieres del Camín, and a higher degree in Construction Works Organization and Control at IES Fernández Vallín in Gijón/Xixón, complementing this professional family at the center.
Regarding specialization courses, there will be one in Technology and Cheese Management at IES Juan de Villanueva in La Pola Siero, aimed at students who have completed higher degree cycles in the Food Industry family.
Another course will focus on Personal Coordination in Professional Meetings, Conferences, Fairs, Exhibitions, and Events, to be taught at the CIFP of Hospitality and Tourism in Gijón/Xixón, enhancing the training in the Hospitality and Tourism family.
A third specialization course in Maintenance and Security in Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Systems will be implemented at IES Fernández Vallín in Gijón/Xixón, complementing the training of students who have completed higher degree cycles in the Transport and Vehicle Maintenance family.
Finally, there are eight existing training cycles that will be expanded to other educational centers:
– Middle degree cycle in Restaurant Services at IES Llanes, reinforcing the Hospitality and Tourism family in the eastern zone.
– Middle degree cycle in Natural Environment and Leisure Guide and a higher degree cycle in Dental Hygiene at IES Cangas del Narcea, boosting the offering in the western zone.
– Two new higher degree cycles in Social Integration at IES No. 1 in Gijón and CIFP Cerdeño (Oviedo/Uviéu), to meet the high demand for training in the central zone.
– Higher degree cycle in Early Childhood Education at IES Víctor García de la Concha in Villaviciosa, balancing the supply and demand among centers offering these cycles.
– Higher degree cycle in Travel Agencies and Event Management, in virtual modality, at CIFP of Hospitality and Tourism in Gijón
