Rural.- The Asturian Parliament calls for the quarantine of transhumant livestock to be lifted
OVIEDO, 7 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Rural and Agricultural Policy Commission of the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias approved this Wednesday the non-binding motion of the PP on various isolation, quarantine, and check-up measures for the return of transhumant bovine livestock to the Principality of Asturias.
Specifically, the approved text calls for the modification of a recent resolution of the Ministry of Rural Affairs to nullify the obligation to undergo a minimum 42-day isolation and quarantine period before the subsequent checks on movements of entry as stipulated in the second provision of said Resolution, maintaining the diagnostic check for Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) before and after entry into Asturias.
It also requests, if necessary, from the Ministry of Rural and Agricultural Policy, assistance for farms whose animals may need to undergo quarantine, at a rate of 5 euros per day and unit of livestock.
The motion was approved with the favorable votes of the PP, Vox, and the Secretary General of Foro Asturias, Adrián Pumares. The PSOE and the deputy of the Mixed Group Covadonga Tomé voted against, while Convocatoria por Asturies-IU, a partner in the government with the socialists, abstained, allowing the initiative to be approved.
In the same session, another motion from the PP on veterinary medicines and their prescription was discussed, with only one point being approved. It was rejected by the left-wing votes, except for one point that was approved unanimously, which requests the government to lower the VAT applicable to veterinary services.
