El Gobierno analizará ofrecer dispositivos móviles de geolocalización a personas con Alzheimer

The Gijón City Council plans to carry out the renovation of the Coría bridge in 2026

The Vox Municipal Group in the Gijón City Council has succeeded in passing an initiative in the Plenary session, with an amendment from the local Government, to provide mobile geolocation devices to people with Alzheimer’s.

The plenary motion was approved with the votes in favor of Vox, Foro, PP, and independent councilor, Óliver Suárez, while PSOE, IU, and Podemos abstained.

The joint amendment from Foro and PP includes urging the City Council to request an increase in funding from the Principality for the Home Help and Teleassistance Service, in order to provide these devices. It also urges the municipal Government to conduct an economic study on the purchase of these devices.

Councilor for Social Services, Guzmán Pendás, has stated that in the upcoming tenders for the Home Help Service (SAD) and Teleassistance, advanced technology devices will be included.

Additionally, he pointed out that, within the framework of emergency aid, assistance can be provided to those lacking resources so that no one is left without these devices.

TRANSPORTATION AID

The urgency justification of the motion presented by the PSOE to debate in the Corporation enabling discounts on urban transport has not been successful. This is due to the fact that as of July 1, the Gijón City Council would not be able to benefit from the central Government’s land transport subsidies by refusing to fine in the Low Emission Zone of La Calzada. As it was not approved, the urgency motion was not discussed.

CORÍA BRIDGE

During the requests section, Vox spokesperson Sara Álvarez Rouco has asked the local Government for a solution for the Coría bridge in Viesques, which currently has a single lane for both directions, given the increase in the number of vehicles circulating in the area.

Although the request was rejected due to the impossibility of execution this year, the local Government has indicated its intention to update the project costs and begin early tendering, allocating the amount in the budget for the year 2026.

UNWANTED SOLITUDE

A request from the PSOE to provide a clear governance structure, objectives, participation, and operation to the Table for Unwanted Solitude has been accepted. However, Councilor Guzmán Pendás emphasized that they are already working on everything requested by the PSOE.

‘GIJÓN BICI’

A request from IU to integrate the ‘Gijón Bici’ service into the Conecta platform of the Principality of Asturias has also been approved. The aim is to ensure intermodality between different modes of mobility and promote the use of the Gijón service as an additional alternative in ordinary travel.
