El desfile de carrozas del Lunes de Pascua se celebrará por la mañana.

19 mar. 2025

Responding to the security needs and compatibility with Street Food, demanded by the various entities participating in its organization.

The Easter Monday parade of the El Bollo 2025 Festivities will take place for the first time this year during the morning of Monday, April 21, becoming one of the major novelties of the celebrations. It will start at 12:00 p.m. from the La Exposición Track, passing through the streets Francisco Orejas Sierra, José Cueto, Plaza de La Merced, Pedro Menéndez street and square, and ending on Emile Robin street.

This decision was reached in a meeting held this morning at the Town Hall among all parties involved in the organization of the parade, which was attended by the Mayor of Avilés, Mariví Monteserín.

In attendance were the Councilor for Festivities, Yolanda Alonso; the Chief of the Local Police, Rafael A. Rodríguez, and the entities awarded in the float model competition: the El Quirinal Neighbors Association, El Hórreo Neighbors Association, Santo Domingo de Miranda Neighbors Association, Marcos del Torniello Neighbors Association, Pedro Menéndez Neighbors Association, and the El Bollo Brotherhood.

The decision is based on security issues, in order to best accommodate the enjoyment of both Street Food and the parade, as the celebration that brings together the residents of Avilés around the table in the historic center of the city has grown exponentially since its creation in 1993.

This is explained by the Chief of Local Police, Rafael A. Rodríguez: «For us, it is the most complex day of the year, and balancing the security of the more than 20,000 people who gather in the street with the float parade, traditionally held in the afternoon, greatly multiplies and complicates the necessary logistics. It includes not only the protection of the citizens and visitors, but also the evacuation of Ferrera Park, the congregation of the public in Carbayedo Park, or the traffic closures for the parade.»

In the words of Yolanda Alonso, «organizing the parade in the morning this year as a novelty can also become a new attraction, encouraging our residents and the many people who visit us that day from other places to hit the streets from the morning on this significant day for the city.»

Float Exhibition

Additionally, at the end of the parade, the ten floats participating in this year’s El Bollo Festivities will be exhibited in the surroundings of Muelle Park. They can be visited until seven in the evening, so that all those who wish to can take photos with them.
