On February 5, 2025, the Avilés agreement with the Local Women’s Council reaches 20 courses with employment opportunities.
The education, training, and employment counselor, Juan Carlos Guerrero, closed the submerged welding course at an institutional event held this morning at the «Europa» Work Center. Also present were Víctor J. Martínez, operational director of Idea, and Rafael Bernardo Cercra, women’s training chief.
They were accompanied by representatives of the signatory organizations of the social agreement «Avila Innova»: José Manuel Rodríguez Baltar, Secretary General of the CCOO of the Avilés Regional Union; Roberto Sánchez Garrido, member of the UGT Regional Executive, and Carmen Ardura Orttea, Director of Training Area and Fade People.
A total of 10 unemployed individuals were trained in welding, thanks to a new training initiative launched by the Avilés municipal training and employment section, in collaboration with the company’s ideas.
The course, called «conduction arc welding,» addresses the priority of unemployed individuals in Avilés, aiming to enhance the professional skills of the participating students. It should be noted that this training initiative has a 40% employment commitment that concludes with the «APT» qualification.
The course, which started on December 2, 2024, included theoretical training at the «Europa» Work Center and practical training at the ISSA Company.
The employment training and employment section continues to develop its strategic line by establishing collaboration agreements with business entities, aiming to enhance competitiveness and facilitate the development of public-private synergies.
This course is part of the agreement signed between the Avilés Local Council and women in 2021. This agreement specifies the design of training actions in the metals sector to prevent vacancies or difficulties in obtaining certain professional profiles, which can strengthen companies in the metal sector. With this new training initiative, the 20th course with employment commitment in the metals sector is achieved.
### The Course Content
The content of the training initiative «submerged arc welding» totals 220 hours and is divided into five modules:
1. Ideasa Presentation: 5 hours.
2. Official training for welders’ professional risk prevention: 20 hours.
3. Management and safety standards for handling mechanical tasks: 20 hours.
4. Theory of submerged arc: 15 hours.
5. Practical welding training on submerged arc cars: 160 hours.
