El Ayuntamiento de Avilés convoca un nuevo contrato para la prevención del abandono escolar en centros educativos.

The Avilés City Council has opened a tender for a new contract to continue the project for the prevention of school dropout in educational centers.

Beneficiary students in each school year will be a minimum of 120 in preschool and primary education, and 50 in public secondary education schools.

The Avilés City Council has opened a tender for the service of socio-educational prevention and intervention in schools aimed at students at risk of premature school dropout and their families. The base budget for the tender is €137,985.60 (VAT exempt activity), and interested companies have until April 2 to submit their proposals.

The awarded company will be responsible for the design, planning, programming, development of content, educational material support, execution, preparation of monitoring and evaluation reports for selected students in the socio-educational and family environment.

They will also be responsible for monitoring and supporting students and families participating in the project in 6th grade, at some of the primary education schools of previous courses, in their transition to compulsory secondary education in public schools in the municipality of Avilés.

The intention of the Avilés City Council’s Education Department, through this tender, is to continue the Socio-Educational Prevention and Intervention Project aimed at families and students at risk of premature dropout from Primary Education. The council believes there is a need not only to maintain this socio-educational compensation program but also to expand it to reach a greater number of families and students from different educational centers in the city, as the council lacks its own resources for the development of said program.

With the implementation of this program, the aim is to strengthen the retention and promotion of students in disadvantaged situations, minimizing risk factors that hinder socio-educational development and the acquisition of basic skills.

Therefore, to guarantee the educational normalization of students in socio-educational disadvantage and their academic success, it is necessary to reduce the educational gap of minors and activate specific actions that, through various municipal devices, are developed at the socio-family level to compensate for unequal opportunities. In this case, the program, due to its content, methodology, and beneficiaries, addresses reasons of social and economic interest.

This student support service will focus its intervention on the social and family factors related to school failure at four levels – individual, family, group, and within the educational center itself, complementing the educational and pedagogical work of the schools. The purpose of this contract falls within the European Strategy 2020-30 for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth, in the objectives and actions outlined in the Municipal Plan for Childhood and Adolescence and the Local Plan for the Prevention and Reduction of School Absenteeism.

The prevention service is carried out in the cycles of preschool, primary, and secondary education. At the beginning of the intervention in September or on the following day of contract award, the selection of students will take place, up to a maximum of 20 students per Center in the case of the six Preschool and Primary Education Centers (maximum 120), and up to a maximum of 10 students from the five public IES of Avilés (maximum 50). This selection will be carried out in coordination with the Education Section, Social Services, and the reference Educational Centers.

In Preschool and Primary Education, beneficiary students will receive 6 hours per week of direct attention and 4 hours per week for programming, family support, coordination with the Center, etc.

In Secondary Education, beneficiary students will receive 3 hours per week of direct attention and 2 hours per week for programming, family support, coordination with the Center, etc.

Upon completion of the school year, the awarded company must conduct an evaluation of the service’s development, collecting feedback from teachers, students, and families, and preparing and presenting the End-of-Year Report.
