OVIEDO, 22 (EUROPA PRESS)
The board of directors of Cogersa, chaired by the Deputy Minister of the Environment, Susana Madera, has approved the initiation of extrajudicial actions aimed at claiming compensation for damages from the insurers of the two companies (Tragsa and UTE Valtalia) that were involved in the establishment of the residual fraction treatment plant, where a fire occurred in one of the warehouses on April 24, 2024.
According to Cogersa, at the time of the incident, Tragsa was carrying out a task for the start-up and temporary operation, including maintenance and conservation, of the damaged plant. On the other hand, UTE Valtalia acted as the contractor for the drafting of the project, the execution of the work, and the start-up of the installation.
Reconstruction works on the plant began in November of last year and are expected to last for a year. The total budget for the repairs amounts to 14.7 million euros, including reinforcement measures in fire protection, with the actual material damages totaling 12,897,805.81 euros.
CONTRACTING OF INSURANCE
The board of directors of the entity has also awarded Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance the contract for material damage insurance for the Consortium’s facilities.
The annual premium for the Waste Treatment Center (CTR) will be 922,013 euros, excluding the aforementioned residual fraction plant, which is currently under construction. Once the rehabilitation of the plant is completed and it reaches nominal performance levels, Cogersa will decide on the industrial risk insurance modality for the same.
COMPREHENSIVE EMERGENCY SERVICE
Another issue addressed was the initial approval of a contract for the provision of a comprehensive emergency service for the Cogersa Waste Treatment Center.
In addition to including a firefighting brigade, equipped with a standby presence 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, other functions such as personnel training on emergencies, conducting drills, fire engineering advice, and supervision of high-risk work will be carried out. The maximum annual budget will be 564,500 euros (excluding VAT) for a period of up to 4 years.
CLEAN POINT IN PARRES
The collegiate body has also given the green light to the start of the construction contract for a Clean Point in the El Prestín Industrial Estate (Parres).
This facility, with a base bidding budget of 1,211,847 euros (including VAT), will also serve the neighboring municipality of Cangas de Onís. The execution period for the project, once the contract is awarded, will be 6 months. With this initiative, Cogersa is advancing in the construction of clean points, currently under construction in the municipalities of Valdés, Noreña, and Villaviciosa.
