Avilés is moving towards a more digital, transparent, and connected future with a new online space: ‘Avilés en Datos’
On April 11, 2025
It includes the Portal de Datos Abiertos, the Observatorio Socioeconómico, and the Geoportal
The councilor of Systems, Raquel Ruiz, presented a new space available on the municipal website, called ‘Avilés en Datos.’ It can be accessed directly and includes three subsections: Portal de Datos Abiertos, Observatorio Socioeconómico, and Geoportal, along with a link to the Transparency section, operational since October 2021.
Ruiz emphasized that this information space represents a step towards a more digital, transparent, and connected Avilés, in line with the commitments outlined in the Urban Agenda of the city, which identifies the ‘Digital Era’ as one of the ten key strategic development axes.
The councilor explained that «Public Administrations have valuable information assets, and the implementation of these new applications represents a significant step in democratizing data and making information accessible.» In this case, the ‘Avilés en Datos’ portal has been designed with a focus on usability and intuitive navigation to quickly locate information that is accessible to all audiences.
«These tools also play a crucial role in urban planning and decision-making,» added Raquel Ruiz, «providing statistical data of interest and/or facilitating georeferenced information on the location and distribution of infrastructure and services in the city.»
Aligned with the Spanish Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, the Avilés City Council commits to developing tools that promote knowledge society, transparency, access to information technology, and digital innovation.
