Aviles organizes XI March for Equality in honor of International Women.

Aviles is organizing the XI March for Equality in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 am in the streets of Aviles’ historic city center. This initiative is part of the commemoration of March 8th, International Women’s Day, organized by the Eponymous Council.

Lucía Fernández Ron, the Equality Councilor of Aviles, presented a family-friendly, playful, participatory, and empowering proposal for the event. She was accompanied by representatives from collaborating organizations such as Paula Martín Vigil and Silvia Santaeufemia Rodríguez from the Open Association, Belén Rodríguez from Enaysanfer, and Sandra Miranda, head of institutional relations at El Corte Inglés.

This activity is free and is organized in collaboration with the Municipal Sports Foundation and the Avilesina Athletic Association. It is open to all participants, covering a distance of 2.5 kilometers.

Television host and journalist Paloma Llera will be responsible for hosting the event.

Registration for the XI March is now open until March 14th. Interested participants can register through the following link: https://forms.gle/2jktfpk8r4ntaewh6. Registration can also be done in person at the Women’s House until 10:00 pm on March 14th.

The first 500 registered participants will receive a commemorative gift, which can be collected at the El Corte Inglés sports department in Avilés from March 7th to 14th.

The event will feature various leisure and entertainment activities along the route, including an equality mural, face painting for children, a photo booth, and a Zumba masterclass.

At the end of March, a prize draw will be held for both adults and children. Participants will receive a consecutive number at the time of collecting their T-shirt, with no personal registration data associated with it. El Corte Inglés will handle the distribution of prizes for the respective associations.

Tour Route:
The march will follow the route through Plaza de España, Calle Rivero, Ferrera Park, Galiana Street, Plaza Álvarez Acebal, San Francisco Street, Plaza de España, Calle La Cámara, Rui Pérez, Pedro Menéndez Square, Calle La Ferrera, and back to Plaza de España. In case of Park Ferrera’s closure, the route will be redirected through Marqués Street, Avenida de Cervantes, and Galiana Street.
