‘Avilés Emprende en 4’ offers four intense training sessions to learn how to boost a business

April 10, 2025

It is complemented by three practical workshops on the economic costs of starting a business, developing a plan, and initial digitalization

The Avilés City Council, through its Business Promotion area, is launching a program aimed at individuals considering the path of entrepreneurial business. With the name ‘Avilés Emprende en cuatro,’ this free training program is designed in four sessions where participants will have access to the necessary information to prepare themselves for shaping a business project.

The program was presented this morning at the Avilés City Council by the councillor for Urban and Economic Development, Manuel Campa, accompanied by representatives of two companies that previously participated in training sessions promoted by Business Promotion: Miguel Camacho, a physiotherapist at his eponymous clinic, and Ana Fran, from Cosas en Familia.

Manuel Campa emphasized that these training actions and the ongoing support provided by the La Curtidora Business Center are what enable the high survival rate (almost 80 percent of those who surpass five years of activity) of projects that start at the center and eventually establish themselves in the city streets. This physiotherapy clinic and this bookstore are two clear examples.

The four three-hour sessions, from 10:00 to 13:00, will take place once a week at La Curtidora, from April 30 to May 22, on Wednesdays, to allow the application of each session’s content to the project’s implementation. It focuses on the four basic pillars that should support a business project (one per session):

– April 30: How to validate your business idea
– May 7: What guerrilla marketing is
– May 14: How to price your business
– May 21: What your business model is and how to validate it

It is supplemented with three 90-minute workshops:

– May 19: How much it costs to start a business
– May 20: How to create a business plan
– May 22: What digital solutions exist to start

This initiative arises from the observation of the training needs detected by the technical staff of Avilés Empresas among individuals wishing to start a business activity.

In the first session, ‘How to validate your business idea,’ over three hours, aspects such as entrepreneurial idea sources, business opportunity identification, market hypothesis creation, defining and knowing the target audience, competitor analysis, developing the first prototype, preliminary presentations for feedback from experts, pilot testing, will be covered.

The second session would focus on ‘Guerrilla Marketing’ and address issues such as principles, customer orientation, segmentation tools, objective definition and strategies, benchmarking: qualitative analysis of the competition, marketing budget, marketing audits.

In the third session, ‘How to price your business,’ topics such as using price as a strategy aligned with marketing, establishing a price consistent with the product value, the formula for price calculation (costs, competition, and customers), sensitivity to price changes in line with demand, pricing tactics and strategies in times of uncertainty, the impact of price adjustments on profitability and results would be covered. Some success and failure cases would also be reviewed.

In the fourth and final block, ‘What your business model is and how to validate it,’ points such as creating a business plan with its corresponding marketing, organizational, financial plans, having a business viability plan that considers commercial, organizational, and economic-financial viability, and explaining business startup models such as ‘Lean Canvas’ or ‘Circular Lean Canvas’ would be addressed.
