Project submissions and registrations for the Galiana descent can now be done until Tuesday, 25 February, at the tourist office.
Avilés Antroxu is gearing up and announcing the prizes for its 7 competitions, with a total of 23,900 euros, an increase of 4,030 euros compared to 2024. The distribution is as follows:
1. Descent Galiana International and River (8,600 EUR)
2. Autos Ginkana (€2,490)
3. Anthroxaes Pet Contest (350 €)
4. Festival Murgas, Changas y Fanfarrias (€1,300)
5. Anthroxes, Moxigangan y Body Parade (€2,960)
6. Concurso Antroxaos Chigres (€5,700)
7. King Goxu y Fababa (€2,500)

XXXVII International and River Descent of Galiana
On Saturday, 1 March, the highly anticipated XXXVII edition of the International Decline and River Descent from Gaulna Street will take place.
All creatively disguised crafts and their occupants can participate, excluding motorized vehicles. There will be 8 prizes ranging from 300 to 3,200 euros for the top eight, totaling 8,600 euros, an increase of 2,100 euros from last year.
The deadline for project submissions and registrations is 25 February at the Municipal Office for Tourism, located at Ruiz Gomez Street 21, from 10:00 to 14:00.
In addition to increasing the prize value, this year’s evaluation criteria will be different, focusing on creativity, quality, theme, and participant activities.
XLIII Automatic Car Gymkhana
The upcoming edition of the Auto Gymkhana will take place on Sunday, 2 March, with a prize pool of 2,490 euros distributed among the top six participants. There will be special awards for the best vehicle costume, representing a total increase of 430 euros from 2024.
Registration deadline is 25 February at the tourist office (Ruiz Gomez Street 21), from 10:00 to 14:00.
Festival Murgas, Changas y Fanfarrias
On Monday, 3 March, the Festival Murgas, Changas y Fanfarrias will award a total of 1,300 euros to four winners.
To participate, register at the tourist office (Ruiz Gomez Street 21) between 20 and 27 February, from 10:30 to 14:00.
XLIII Great Parade of Anthroxes, Moxigangan and Body
Taking place on Tuesday, 4 March, this contest will evaluate quality, originality, and theme. There will be nine prizes totaling 2,960 euros, divided into group, couple, and individual categories.
Registration at the tourist office (Ruiz Gomez Street 21) from 10:00 to 14:00.
VIII Antroxaes Pet Contest
Set for Sunday, 2 March, this contest is open to common pets, excluding potentially dangerous breeds and exotic animals.
Registration at the Municipal Service for Holidays, located at Ruiz Gomez Street 21, by 25 February, from 10:00 to 14:00.
Awarding 350 euros in four prizes, the jury will assess the originality, quality, and presentation of the pets.
34 Antroxaos Cigare
Organized by the Avilés Hospitality Region – Ucayc, in collaboration with the Local Council of Avilés, will distribute three prizes worth 5,700 euros to the top three units with the best decoration, an increase of 1,500 euros from the previous edition.
Units interested in attending must submit their application from 17 to 25 February at Ucayc headquarters (Libertad Street 9) or by phone/email.
Kings of Goxu and Faba
The theme «Time and Space Trips» will crown the Goxu and Faba Kings and Queens of the 2025 Anthroxu of Avilés. The Rugby Club in Avilés will be crowned on Friday, 28 February.
