A 38-year-old climber was evacuated to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA) on Saturday after being injured in a fall at the climbing school in Entrago, in the council of Teverga. The injured party had a fractured tibia and fibula.
The rescue operation was carried out by the Asturias Fire Brigade Rescue Group on board the medicalized helicopter of the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA), as detailed in a press release by this organization.
According to the organization, the Emergency Coordination Center received the call at 3:07 p.m. The accident occurred in the Electric climbing sector, an area inaccessible by road.
The rescue team accessed the injured party through two crane operations, in which the medical-rescuer and a firefighter-rescuer were lowered. The operation ended with the team’s return to base at 4:33 p.m. The SEPA 112 dispatch center notified the Civil Guard and the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) of the incident.
