Las competencias de Formación Profesional se trasladan de Ciencia a Educación

Barbón will explain his decision to restructure the Government on Monday.

President of the Asturian Government, socialist Adrián Barbón, will hold a press conference next Monday to explain his decision to restructure the Executive after the resignation of Belarmina Díaz as Minister of Ecological Transition, Industry, and Commerce. Barbón has decided to do away with this ministry and has distributed its areas into others that already existed.

Barbón has stated that as part of this reorganization, the responsibilities in Vocational Training will move from the Science department to Education, to make the management of the new competencies of Science, Industry, and Employment «more manageable.»

«I believe in being held accountable. Next Monday, after presenting the measures to support Asturian companies in the tariff war to FADE, CCOO, and UGT, I will hold a press conference to announce the measures and address my decisions,» the Asturian leader wrote on his social media account.

He has indicated that these decisions are made based on the premise of «listening to society and thinking exclusively about Asturias.» Additionally, he has added that this is done with the «intention of reforming and regenerating, humbly learning from mistakes, and improving the actions of the progressive and reformist government, without engaging in disqualifications or responding to personal attacks.»

In his message, the Asturian politician has provided details of the changes he has decided on following the «free and voluntary decision» of Díaz, which allows for the «regeneration» of government action.

Barbón has mentioned that he started with the aim of reducing the size of the Government, with fewer advisors. «To reorganize the Government, I have done so based on a key triad: solvency, capability, and experience of those chosen,» he added.

The Ministry of Science, Companies, Training, and Employment, led by Borja Sánchez, will now be called the Ministry of Science, Industry, and Employment. According to Barbón, this change is «logical» because the industry «will only have a future in Asturias through science.»

He mentioned that Borja Sánchez, whom he has known since he was four years old, brings experience and knowledge. «I admire him for his ability to make Science the driver of change in Asturias,» he noted.

Recently back after undergoing colon cancer surgery and still undergoing treatment, Barbón believes he is the ideal person to provide «answers and certainties.»

Regarding the Environment, an area that encompasses different aspects such as ecological transition, climate change, and ensuring water supply and quality, Barbón explained that these responsibilities are closely related to the management of natural environments.

«At one point, it was criticized that both matters were not grouped under a single Ministry. That’s why I made the decision and turned to the most experienced Minister along with Borja Sánchez, Alejandro Calvo,» he explained.

This way, the Ministry of Mobility, Local Cooperation, and Emergency Management will be renamed the Ministry of Mobility, Environment, and Emergency Management, taking on some of the areas previously managed by Díaz.
