More than 40 musicians from the Clásica de Arriondas Orchestra, directed by Sergio Vázquez, will perform
Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura will host ‘Gijón del Aria Mía II’ on July 11, an experience that combines gastronomy and lyricism, according to a press release from the regional government.
This was highlighted on Thursday at a press conference by the Director General of Cultural Action of the Principality, Antón García, the Mayor of Parres, Emilio García Longo, the Councilor for Festivities and spokesperson for the City of Gijón, Jesús Martínez Salvador, the musical director of the event, Sergio Vázquez, and the promoter of the event, Julio Zapatero.
Additionally, this second edition includes two distinct parts. The experience will begin at 8:00 p.m. with an exclusive dinner for 200 guests, whose tickets have already sold out, in the Patio Verde of Laboral, next to the Theater.
The second part of the evening will consist of a lyrical gala at 9:30 p.m. in the Laboral theater, featuring the Clásica de Arriondas Orchestra, conducted by maestro Sergio Vázquez, in an expanded version with more than 40 musicians to ensure the richness of sound in each work performed.
The soloists on the program include mezzo-soprano Anna Gomá and young tenor Pablo Puértolas, as well as international dancer Sara Martín.
CAREFULLY SELECTED REPERTOIRE
According to the Principality, the program will consist of 19 pieces that cover the highlights of the operatic and zarzuela repertoire, with a careful selection of arias, romances, and instrumental interludes, from Rossini’s Overture of William Tell to Agustín Lara’s passionate Granada.
Other musical pieces that will be heard include Una furtiva lagrima (Donizetti), Stride la vampa (Verdi), Il Trovatore. L’amour est un oiseau rebelle (Habanera from Carmen, Bizet), and (Leyenda) (Albéniz).
It has also been emphasized that with Gijón del Aria Mía II, the organizers aim to strengthen the city’s position as a cultural and tourist reference, as well as to promote Gijón’s visibility in the national lyrical circuit.
Tickets for the lyrical gala are available starting at 40 euros, with discounts for Club Cultura Asturias or Pasaporte Cultural cardholders.
Seats can be purchased at the Laboral Reception, at the Tourist Information Center of the Principality of Asturias in Oviedo, at the Niemeyer Center in Avilés, and on the website laboralciudaddelacultura.com.
