The seventh edition of the Galbán Race-Walk will take place in Avililes on Sunday, February 16, starting at 12:00, organized by the Galbán Children’s Cancer Association from the beginning of Asturias. The event, under the slogan «Run Against Childhood Cancer,» was presented this morning by the sports advisor, David García, and the city’s health advisor, Ana Suárez Guerra. They were accompanied by the treasurer of the Galbán Association, Antonio Gallego; the founding president, Javier Díaz; the mayor of Yernes and Tameza, María Díaz; Corvera Sports Council, Genaro Rodríguez; and a representation of companies collaborating with the association for the occasion.

Among these entities were their president, Fernando Fombona; Arceormittal, with its director of communication and institutional relations, Alberto Carrero de Roa; Asturfento, with its marketing director, Pablo Feito; Pasek España, with its CEO, Pablo Cuervo-Arango Pire; and El Corte Inglés, with its director in Avililes, Luis Sarciada, among others.

The route, which extends in relation to previous editions, will depart from Plaza de España and pass through Rivero, Ferrera Park, and Galiana Street. From there, it will return to Plaza de España to go to Cámara street, Plaza de Merced, pass through Rui Péz in Parque Digului, and return to Plaza de España, crossing Plaza de Camposagrado and Calle La Fruata.

Registrations are already open at www.correcongban.org and in person at El Corte Inglés in Avilés, from Saturday to Saturday, both inclusive, from 17:00 to 21:00. In addition, on Friday the 14th and Saturday, 15 registrations can be made between 10:00 and 14:00. T-shirts can be collected at the sports section of El Corte Inglés in Avilés on the same days and hours.

The Race-Walk will take place simultaneously in 78 councils in Asturias. Galbán’s goal is to exceed the 40,219 participants from last year, with 2,707 in Avilés. All of this is to raise more funds for the fight against childhood cancer, a cause that requires support and awareness from the entire community.
